Fabrika Sumy

Context

Sumykamvol started in 1987 as a worsted spinning plant. Today it's a group of companies that processes hemp, flax and wool at depth. It has nonwoven materials, Konsulate™ hemp insulation, UKONO™ and Charivna Nich™ home textiles, B2B services from Pantone yarn dyeing to industrial laundering, and the Patriot industrial park. The whole group needed to look like one thing to a buyer.

The Challenge

A buyer judged forty years of manufacturing, exports to thirty countries, and ISO 9001 and 14001 certification by a page that took forever to load. The catalog was buried so deep that people left before finding a GSM.

The constraint

The old site ran on Wix: content arrived by script, every company in the group had its own scrap of a page, and products got lost in sub-pages. Neither the speed nor the structure did anything for search.

The decisions, pinned where they live

Why we made it this way.

The decisions, pinned where they live

What we did, and why

One site instead of scattered ones

One site instead of scattered ones

The group's companies and brands lived on separate sites, in web stores and on Etsy. We merged them onto one domain with a shared sitemap and internal linking: a hundred-plus pages passing weight to each other, instead of three sites competing with themselves.

A page for every product

A page for every product

We broke the catalog out by line: every yarn, filler and nonwoven has its own URL with GSM, composition and availability listed. A buyer who already knows what they want lands right on it.

Content that feeds the commercial pages

Content that feeds the commercial pages

A blog (hemp insulation versus mineral wool, and more), a scrubbed timeline going back to 1987, an interactive Konsulate™-versus-glasswool comparison: all static, crawlable content that links back to the product pages.

The SEO thinking behind it

  • The whole site is static

All hundred-plus pages are finished HTML. They load instantly, and search engines see the content right away instead of waiting for a script to run, like on the old Wix.

  • One domain for the group

Weight isn't split across Cascade-Textile, UKONO and Patriot: it all strengthens one site.

  • UA and EN on one domain

Two language versions with hreflang give export SEO without a second site to maintain.

  • Unique content on every page

No template copy carried between cards: nothing thin, nothing duplicate.

Where it landed

A year after launch: five times the unique visitors, twenty times the pageviews, all from organic search, without a cent spent on ads. Orders come through the site regularly, and clients mention on the phone, unprompted, that the site is great. The supplier's online profile has finally caught up with the factory behind it.

The story from 1987 on a scrubbed timeline: the '90s crisis, privatization, the industrial park, entry into the EU market.
Annual capacity right up front: a million square meters of nonwovens, 500 tonnes of cottonized fiber, 1,000 tonnes of wool tops.
Interactive slider: Konsulate™ hemp insulation against glasswool, compared detail by detail.
Toll-processing services in one view: dyeing, washing, cottonization, twisting, sewing.
The production base: dyeing vessels, combing lines, industrial laundries.
