Basketball trickshots for a creator
Trickshots mean dozens of attempts, and most of them miss. Whether that becomes a pile of attempts or a rising stake gets decided in the edit.
The best trickshots in Czechia
The brief
The edit of a basketball trickshot video for a sports creator's channel: two people on camera, an arena, one shooting day.
What was at stake
A trickshot on its own isn't content; the content is the tension of whether it lands. A viewer only stays if each attempt looks harder than the last, and that's a property of the cut more than of the footage.
The constraint
There's many times more material than running time, and most of the footage is a miss. Choosing which attempts stay and in what order is the entire job: the same shots in the wrong order turn a record into a chore.
How it was shot and cut
We cut it as an escalation. An easier attempt opens; the hard one arrives only once the viewer knows what's at stake; and the misses stay in, because without them the make would carry no weight.
The misses stay in the cut
An attempt that fails is the only thing that gives the one that lands any value. Cutting the failure cuts the tension along with it.
Order is dramaturgy
The same shots in a different order are a different video. Rising difficulty holds a viewer longer than the best single attempt placed first.
Two faces, one reaction
The other person's reaction in frame does half the work: it tells the viewer how hard that was without anyone having to explain it.
